Mercedes Schlapp's job as White House Strategic Communications Advisor isn't an easy one. It is not easy for Mercedes Schlapp to be the strategic communication adviser at White House. Schlapp is able to remain focussed and focused by working closely in conjunction with White House teams in political affairs and legislative affairs, as well the larger communications staff. The focus has been on issues like the safety of schools, opioids, infrastructure and trade. Schlapp isn't involved with journalists often in her current position. She did draw a flurry of media attention when she was mentioned as a potential replacement Hope Hicks as communications director. Mercedes Schlapp does not have a straightforward job as White House strategic communication adviser. Mercedes Schlapp has to deal with an administration that is roiled by a variety of problems, such as a president acting as his own director of communications and Cabinet Secretaries who are embroiled in their respective controversies. Yet, through all of it Schlapp has stayed determined to focus on her task that she has been assigned, and is working closely with White House's political and legislative affairs teams and policy shops as well in the communications department to coordinate policy rollouts. So far, Schlapp is focusing on safety at school problems, addiction issues infrastructure, trade, and addiction. At the moment the director does not interact extensively with journalists. In March, she was the subject of a sudden surge in attention, when it became it was reported that she would be the next candidate to take over Hope Hicks's job as director of communication. It's been a nasty fight. Schlapp's allies began fighting with Tony Sayegh over the media. After Schlapp was informed that the Washington Examiner published a negative article about Sayegh Schlapp said she called Sayegh to show a open heart.
